LASTING EVENTS & MEMORIES FROM
CAMPUS THUNDER
1955
"ROLL 'EM"
(8TH Edition)

Played three performances in Bridgeport; one performance in Hartford.

Campus Thunder '55 came upon us with a midst of luck. Not only were we in our new theatre on the Seaside campus, but Thunder '55 was going on its first road engagement to Hartford's 3,800 seat Bushnell Memorial.

Al Dickason impressed on the cast that we must put on a good show, so we did, according to the critics. It was the most professional ever.

Mr. Richard Rodgera of the Rodgers-Hammerstein team attended the Saturday evening performance, saying "It's remarkable, I never believed a college show could be so professional". We had our ups and downs with a couple of leads gettihg sick; one had pneumonia the week before the show. Her understudy took over. On the Hartford show, two of the chorus men got bus sick but were all right for the performance. Show concerned itself with a junior journalist who is sent on what she believes to be a trial assignment. Before long she becomes involved in some strange happenings including a hilarious "Get-a-man campaign" and a cloak and dagger intrigue involving the activities of her boss's ex-wife.

Our program boasted the most pages ever with a profit after the cast party held at the Raven Inn in Stratford. Parties galore dotted this year's show with the cast having a party each night of the show and the alumni sponsoring an after-the-theatre glow in Hartford.

The noted event of the 1955 show was the birth of the first child to Cele C, Charlie Rasmussen, minutes before the opening night. It was announced from the stage. Charlie was the Business Manager of the show while Cele did the dance routines in the past years.Dance routines were out of this world with Zita Carrano taking over this year's choreography.

Stars of the show were: Alex Zavadsky, Joe Baceycius, Pauline Scin-to, Lenore Bifield, Geraldine Bennett and Marianne Lacy.

Top song hits of this year's show were: "Roll 'em", "Let's Discuss" "Let's Go to the Carnivale" really the hit song, and "One Way Ticket To Love.

New songwriters were added to our old standbys; they included! Sarn Anderson, N.Y. songwriter, Bill Pjura '54, and Dan Leeson '54, first alumni ever to pen a song for the show.

"HARTFORD ENGAGEMENT

Busses left the UB campus at 1:30 p.m. although the costumes, scenery and technical crew were at the Bushnell early in the morning, working the drops, etc. Arriving at Hartford's Bushnell for a quick run through then a good dinner, followed after the show by another dinner.

Audience reaction to the first Thunder they ever saw was wonderful. The papers the following morning stated that now the Mask & Wig Club has a rival in the Hartford area.
